Well, back to a more KOF fanart, this time is the Blue Mary
Well, for those not familiar with KOF, besides being one of the most popular characters and over strongest XD. She is a spy, a Russian martial art fighter that I forgot what is ... and is Terry' s 'girlfriend' (one of the main characters in the game). In the game she lost her husband (boyfriend?), cause this, the your theme is Blue Mary's Blues .. she even has a clip as an extra into CD of Real Bout Fatal Fury NeoGeoCD and Sega Saturn .... Finally, your first appearance has in Fatal Fury 3.
Ok .. for who has of 18 years down .. all this matters little bruhahuauhaa ==========================================
Haha this is my first critiquing another person's work since someone gave me subscription, so I'll try to critique at my very best.
I've been flicking through all the crtiqueables today and so far, this one is the best one I've seen. How should I break this down?
Layout: You've certainly got a good sense of layout there. The focus starts off from a close up of the trumpet, then to the singer in the middle, and finally the guitarist in the back, which is also good use of "continuation", an illustrative technique that carries the viewer's eyes from one element of the image to the next.
Characters: No blue jazz band is without a saxophonist, and the way the saxophonist is holding the instrument identifies how much he knows how play his instrument. The singer looks as if she has so much to express through her song from her facial expression as well as the alcohol she carries in her glass (Probably some hardships she have experienced in her life). The guitarist's face is pretty anonymous, however it also implies that he's concentrating on his play and timing of the guitar, waiting for the right momnet to play his strings.
Colour: The tone and background of the artwork creates this "blue" atmosphere that is found in jazz. Combining the atmosphere with the characters who are playing their song makes it seem like we can really hear their music in our minds (I can play a blues song with it and it'll be even more real, haha). I also like the luminosity placed on the musicians, most especially the singer as the glow on her skin and hair is indeed alluring. Shadows and "darker" shadows really makes the image more defined, which is a necessity to create an image that puts enough depth to flesh out their physical appearance.
Overall, I'm going to say this is a fantastic artwork, and am glad to make my first critique for this.
